FILM READER
Irregular Magazine from Evanston ,United States
Ceased publication

- First and last issue: 1975-1985?
- This was an intermittent academic journal out of Northwestern University.
- It aimed to be annual, but couldn't always manage it.
- The format of the journal was typically in 2 thematic sections.
- It was established at the Department of Radio-Television-Film at NWU.
- It emerged under the influence of recent British approaches to applying the new French philosophy to film and television - especially the British journal Screen.
- Two visiting British scholars to the department, Peter Wollen and Geoffrey Nowell-Smith, were apparently instrumental in getting the thing rolling.
- Film Reader is characterized by heavily theoretical articles.
- Its circulation was around 1,000.
- Copies are scarce and usually to be found in academic libraries.
